Beyond the checklist: Building Observability for Accessibility Debt
Your app passes every accessibility audit. Accessibility Inspector shows zero issues. You did a VoiceOver pass before the last release. And yet — a real user with VoiceOver still can't complete checkout, because the focus order silently changed when a designer moved a button two weeks ago.
This is the gap almost every team has, and almost no team measures. We treat accessibility like a compliance checklist we clear once, instead of a property of the codebase that decays the moment we stop watching.
This session builds on my earlier work on accessibility as an inclusion practice, and picks up where that conversation usually ends: "okay, now how do we keep it that way?", and "how does AI help?".
You'll leave seeing accessibility as a signal you monitor, not a task you finish — the way you already treat performance and reliability. We'll cover what tools quietly miss, a four-layer way to measure it, which numbers reflect real progress, and where AI helps — and where it doesn't.
