A lot of us who have been developers for a long time have learned to think of ourselves as craftspeople. Now, the thing that we've spent all our time and effort honing our skills on is changing wildly, as quickly as week to week.

So how does this compare to other evolutions in other arts and crafts? I'll look at writing code through the lens of my hobbies of woodworking, laser cutting, and 3D printing to talk about the evolution of art into craft, and craft into art.

You'll walk away with some new ways to think about producing code, and I hope a way to make sense of some of the chaos around us.
