At Blub Blub, we help children learn to speak by building innovative speech therapy apps. Our flagship, Apple featured app, Speech Blubs had gone through many iterations, both on product and on technical side. We used everything from Objective-C, Swift, Flutter to web and Unity (Java and Kotlin on Android side). I want to take you on a journey of almost 10 years of engineering the app and show you the lessons we learned. Try to answer questions whether we should cling onto tech or programming language stacks because of the experience we had gained, or whether we should just simply adapt, rewrite, refactor, reengineer. Should we be afraid of changing the tech stack and now with the power of agentic AI, even more? Or should we embrace the change and adapt early, rather than later?
