The model is not the feature: designing invisible AI for mobile apps
Workshop
Everyone is adding “AI” to their app, but most implementations still look like a chatbot bolted onto an existing product. This talk takes a different path: how do you design mobile features where AI disappears into the experience and still does something genuinely useful?
We will build a production-minded architecture for invisible AI features on mobile using task-specific flows instead of a single giant assistant. The session covers on-device and hybrid inference, model routing, structured outputs, retrieval, fallback policies, token and latency budgets, battery impact, offline behavior, observability, and evaluation. By the end, attendees will have a blueprint for features like smart compose, intent routing, content triage, extraction, summarization, and proactive assistance that feel like product design—not a demo.
